Handlesets

Passage

A Passage lock is also known as an Interior Non-Locking lock.

This door hardware is placed on any door you would not need to lock, such as a laundry room, hallway or closet.  The latchbolt is operated by either knob or lever at all times, meaning the knob or lever on either side of the door may be used to  turn the bolt and open the door.

Passage locks do not lock, so never use this hardware on a door that needs to be secure against unwanted entry!

Keyed Entry

Privacy

A Privacy lock is also known as an Interior Locking or Bathroom or Bedroom lock.

This door hardware should be placed on any door in the interior of your home you would want to lock. 

All Privacy locks have an emergency release function to enable simple access to a room if required.

The Privacy function is convenience driven, not security driven.

Knobs or levers can be purchased as Privacy locks.

Dummy

Dummy hardware is also known as a Decorative Pull.

This door hardware is generally used on linen closet or pantry doors, or any door where only a pull is required to open.

Deadbolts

Every exterior entry door on your home should have a deadbolt.

The door from your garage to your home should be considered an exterior entry door as well.

A single cylinder deadbolt has a key lock on the outside and a thumb turn on the inside. 

A double cylinder deadbolt requires a key on both sides, so that a burglar cannot simply break the glass and turn the bolt in order to enter your home.
